Jibo

Jibo

Jibo, the development of the world's first family robot unfortunately failed. The robot is therefore not on the market.

It is a desktop robot, has a round base that plugs into a standard AC outlet, a slightly cone-shaped midsection and a round head with a flat front that sits on top of it. That dark, round face features a 5.7-inch screen.

The robot is meant to act as a companion and personal assistant which can act as a personal photographer with two hi-res cameras that allow Jibo to recognize, track and photograph your family members as well as follow whoever is speaking during a video chat. Advanced artificial intelligence algorithms learn your preferences so that Jibo adapts to your life.

Jibo’s 360-degree microphones and natural language processing allow users to talk to Jibo from anywhere in the room. Interaction with Jibo mimics human interaction as the robot is designed to express and interpret natural social and emotive cues.

Jibo is being released in two versions: a home version for early adopters and a developers version for those who are curious about programming more apps for the bot.

Full public release is expected in the autumn of 2016.
